Hey everyone!
In May 2010, I decided to deactivate my facebook account. During the process of deactivating, I decided to remove my pictures, notes etc. During the deletion process, I came across a very interesting, personal note that I wrote.
The Note is entitled "Choices"...
Here we go....
Hmmm? Where do I begin? What was the topic again? Ahhhhhh! Choices! The choices you and I make on a daily basis. Perhaps, the topic choices is too vague. There are so many angles to the topic choices that one can explore.
So what angle am I choosing?
Here goes a story/analogy....
In Toronto, Canada, I walked into a mall called Eaton Centre. On that particular day I was broke....like dead broke, so I was window shopping. Just window shopping. During my window shopping sessions, I seen all types of shoes, jewelleries, dresses, skirts, sneakers, belts and pumps being displayed differently in different stores. I walked passed a store called BCBG and saw the most prettiest shoe ever!!! It was displayed nicely with a matching bag. From outside the store the shoe looked lovely. So I decided "Hey, why not check this shoe out." As I walked into the store, to the area where the shoe was displayed, I noticed the following:
1. There was a piece of thread sticking out of the shoe at the front
2. The shoe was $350.00 CAD
3. They had only one size left. A size 6. I wear 7.
Analyze
1. "There was a piece of thread sticking out of the shoe at the front."
A piece of thread? No big deal! You can always cut it off. But what if you were to cut off the thread and the leather, gradually, started coming off the shoe?
2. "The shoe is $350.00 CAD."
I have enough money on me, but I am a university student on a very tight budget. Therefore, I have to live within my means. But, but, but......this shoe is BEAUTIFUL! A type of shoe that is not too common....its "different."
3. "They had only one size left. A size 6. I wear 7."
One word, corns.
What to do?
There are individuals that, regardless of the possible problems surrounding the shoe, will buy it with no hestitation. I mean, what is a piece of thread? You can always cut it off. As far as money is concerned, life is too short....you only live ONCE! Why not treat yourself? And lastly, the size? Ohhhhh yeeaaaahhhh, the size! Pain is beauty hunny; I'll do more sitting and less walking.
There are some individuals that will seriously consider the possible problems surrounding the shoe and let it go. Why? Because they believe that they can always find another shoe that fits just right, cost less, and looks nice at the same time.
My point?
Sometimes you meet different kinds of people in your life. Some may appear nice, loyal, trustworthy.....you know nice..."cool" peoples. But as you get closer, and closer to them you notice the total opposite. You notice their true colours.
Flaws.
Everyone has flaws, Nobody is perfect. Right, right.... But flaws aside, you cannot seem to appreciate the individual the way you want to. Why? Is it really their flaws or something else?
To be continued...
I think this note was very interesting and still, pretty much, relevant to me to this day. I wrote this particular note in high-school. I got the inspiration from the people around me. How I see them as. Wondering why these same people that I grew up with and attended middle school and church with were suddenly changing....
I'm 20 now...and I fully understand now...lol. People change, sometimes, apart. It is, from my perspective, a natural process of life. These individuals have simply grown out of the characters in the STORY (your life)....
Learn the skill of letting go. Learn how to say goodbye to old friends that have completed their part of the story and to old habits.
Okay...I am going to my bed
I'm serious this time.
Goodnight,
Orange Moon
